Vampire Weekend "Horchata"

Vampire Weekend has recently unveiled the first track off their forethcoming album Contra. The featured track titled "Horchata" has all the classic makings of Vampire Weekend with educated beats, twinkling xylophones, sunny choruses, clever rhyming, and all that cheeky Ivy-League lyricism we love so much. And yes, I'm already reeling on the remix and mash-up possibilities. Have a listen below and check out the website for more details on the new album due January 2010.

Steven Alan and Chari & Co. Collab

Just in time for the cool nights of Autumn, Steven Alan has launched this exclusive flannel shirt in collaboration with the fixie junkies at Chari & Co. With little details like snap closures, ribbed cuffs, velcro iPod pocket, and a hunting pocket in the back of the shirt, this may very well be the perfect item for all of us who live on our bikes and require something stylish yet functional. And for the rest of you, consider it a unique must-have addition to your Fall wardrobe. $198

Midnight Juggernauts "The New Technology"

The Midnight Juggernauts just released the hypnotic new video for their latest single "The New Technology." It's like symphonic, prog-rocked, acid-washed jeans for your eyes and ears. Enjoy!

This is My City

After spending a week seeing Paris through local eyes (and the occasional beer goggle), I must say that I'm loving the new series from my friends Thomas and Tim titled This is My City. Instead of slathering guests with tourist drudgery, the Brooklyn-based artists post weekly Craigsist ads to find a host that will give their personal take on the city and show how the locals really live. They are currently in Lisbon raising hell, but you can expect future episodes in places like Berlin, Belgrade, Berui, Osaka, Melbourne and Wellington. And if you live in one of these places, you may want to check your local Craigslist, as they're still looking for the right host in many of these cities. Check out the Reykjavik Pilot below.

Ruben Toledo Tackles the Classics

ACE Hotel Portland

Despite the hype surrounding the recent opening of the ACE Hotel New York, I must admit I'm a sucker for ACE Portland. (Even the New York location hosts parties for people from the Pacific Northwest!) And their recent collaborations and packages have placed Portland on the top of my fall weekend destinations.

TRANSPORT: As of October 1, ACE has teamed with Portland-based Swobo bikes to generate a fleet of six signature "Otis" bikes for their guests (each customized by 6 different local bike shops). Each sturdy bike comes equipped with stylish splash fenders, step-through options and three not-so-hipster speeds.

DRINK: Portland-based House Spirits has teamed with ACE Portland to not only stock their minibars with limited-edition artisan spirits, but also provide an optional cocktail kit fresh citrus, bucket of ice, cocktail shaker, jigger, and martini glasses, plus cocktail recipe cards designed by the master distillers at House Spirits to "take advantage of your minibar offerings." Drinking in the room has never been so cool!

PDX DATE PACKAGE: ACE Portland is offering a "PDX Date Package" that (with your stay) includes a reservation at Ground Control Arcade, sack of quarters, 6-pack of PBR and a map of Portland's best make-out spots.
