No Boring Art

This video is simply too good to not repost. The sweet-toothed, oddball charm of Baldessari layered with the toasty gristle of Waits. It's an art sandwich worthy of seconds.

Hangs Upon Nothing

I've always had a soft spot for the midwestern surf clientele. To most out here on the West coast, we're kind of charming breed...you know, all full of fresh, land-locked perspective and an unexplainable wonderment over trunking it in knee-high rollers. And if you still need further proof, just ask Jeremy Rumas. In case you haven't heard of him, Jeremy is originally from Chicago. Jeremy picked up surfing a little later in life (24 years young). And Jeremy is about to release his debut film Hangs Upon Nothing. This thing looks like a visual Thanksgiving feast, oozing the haze and hues on Indonesia's mystical coastlines and magnificent people. All garnished to an lively original score from Indiana-based Turbofire to Zenith. Seriously, if this is what landlocked can do, I don't want the key.

Running With the Hunted

In truth, I can't believe it actually took this long for Vitsoe to team up with Brooklyn-via-Japan-based Kinfolk Bicycle. The collaborative event, aptly titled Built to Last, highlights the stunning designs of Kinfolk's jaw-dropping bikes and the timeless Vitsoe shelving system (for which I would choke a puppy to own). Can't you just see Dieter Rams strolling around on one of these steeds? And instead of preaching his 10 principles for good design, he would just nod sagely and point at his riding machine. In the meantime, here's a few of my favorites from Kinfolk...just make sure you bring a towel to clean-up after yourself. And, as always, if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.

Cook With The Hook

Back in 1974 John Lee Hooker took to the stage for a legendary perfomance at the "Down in the Dumps" festival in Gerdner, Massachusetts. Trucker hats, cheap beer and the sweltering heat of Hooker's Delta blues. If this doesn't get you excited for summer, nothing will.
